RIGA AIM TO END SEASON ON A HIGH / RIGA CENTĪSIES PABEIGT SEZONU UZ VIĻŅA

The Black Cats take on their final league opponent tonight, as they face FK Liepāja. This is actually the first of two meetings for these teams this week as they will play each other for a second time on Thursday evening in the Latvian Cup.

Head-to-head:
Riga United and FK Liepāja have faced off two times this season, Liepaja winning 3-0 and 5-0 respectively. These traditionally aren’t dirty games either with only four yellow cards being awarded (Liepāja 3-1 Riga).

Being Clinical:
The one thing which has been noticeable in matches, is Riga’s finishing. The scoreline suggests they had no problem on Saturday but they still missed one or two in the first half. If they can get confidence behind their shot and nail it, goals can come but against Liepaja, they
have to finish it if they do come.

Comes down to this:
After Saturday’s great win vs Cerība, Riga have got their confidence up and are ready for another challenge. After what has been an interesting debut year for the Black Cats, they know that they can go into this game with their heads’ held high. While everyone knows that Liepāja are a strong team and to be respected, with not much to lose, Riga can go and take them on and certainly can cause a possible upset tonight.

Team News:
Due to the early nature of the kick off, there will be some missing players, however, tonight will see the return of captain Marit Gjerde, which no doubt a boost to the squad in terms of attacking options.

Voice from the coach:
Looking ahead to tonight’s game, Manager Justin Walley said "It is quite a strange scenario to be playing the same team twice in the space of three days. We have ten girls unavailable for selection tonight, so this is an opportunity for one or two of our players to stake a claim for a place in the selection for the semi final. When we last played Liepaja we were torn to pieces in the first thirty minutes so I will be looking for a big improvement there. We were all very happy with the performance on Saturday but this Liepaja team is two divisions higher in quality than Ceriba. The girls will need to make much quicker decisions with and without the ball."

Melnās kaķenes šodien pēdējā sieviešu līgas spēlē mērosies spēkiem ar Liepājniecēm. Šī būs pirmā no divām savstarpējajām spēlēm šīs nedēļas griezumā, jo jau ceturdien norisināsies otrā spēle jau Latvijas Kausa ietvaros.

Aci pret aci:
Riga United ar FK Liepāja šogad ir tikušās divas reizes, kur abos mačos pārākas ar 3-0 un 5-0 izrādījās liepājnieces. Abas aizvadītās spēles norisinājās visai sportiskā un draudzīgā atmosfērā, spēļu kopsummā nopelnot tikai četras dzeltenās kartiņas (Liepāja 3-1 Riga United).

Viena lieta, uz kuru RU dāmām ir jākoncentrējas, ir noslēguma fāze. Pēdējās spēles rezultāts gan rāda, ka šai spēlē problēmas gūt vārtus viņām nebija, bet tai pat laikā bija vērojamas ļoti daudz neizmantotas izdevības. Lūkojoties uz šodien spēli, komandas menedžeris Justin Walley teica: “Ir visai dīvaini spēlēt ar vienu un to pašu komandu divās reizes trīs dienu laikā. Mums iztrūkst 10 spēlētājas šovakar, kas savukārt nozīmē, ka pārējām dāmām ir iespēja sevi pierādīt kā pamatsastāva spēlētājām uz pusfināla spēli. Pēdējā no spēlēm pret Liepājas komandu, liepājnieces mūs saplosīja gabalos pirmjajās 30 minūtēs, tāpēc šodien es ceru redzēt pilnīgi cita līmeņa spēli no savām meitenēm. Mēs bijām ļoti apmierināti ar savu sniegumu sestdien, bet jāatzīst, ka Liepājas komanda ir savus divus līmeņus augstāka komanda salīdzinot ar Cerība komandu. Dāmām nāksies spēlēt daudz ātrāk, ātrāk pieņemt lēmumus gan esot ar bumbu, gan bez tās.”
